Immigration and Border Security
Immigration is a huge issue facing our country today. Not only is the violation of our immigration laws a national security issue, but it also involves how we as a country uphold the rule of law. Illegals cross the borders and live on the edge of society, often receiving government benefits without paying their fair share of taxes.
Estimates of the number of illegals in America range from 11 million to as many as 30 million.
Legal immigration can be beneficial, as long as the immigrants pass a background check, demonstrate respect for our laws, and provide adequate assurance that they will contribute more to our economy than they take out in benefits. Our country is a nation built by legal immigrants who have greatly contributed to the success of American in every generation. Legal immigrants typically are great citizens and hard workers and greatly contribute to their local communities.
Illegal foreign nationals, however, by definition do not respect our laws. The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs testified a few years ago that at least half of all drug dealing in Oklahoma is done by illegals.
President Obama and Congress are once again trying to pass another amnesty law for illegals. As a member of Congress, Kevin will help lead the fight against amnesty. Before any reform of our immigration laws, Congress must first and foremost control the border. Border security has been a more dire issue as stories are coming from the border of kidnappings of American citizens and drug wars by Mexican gangs.
While in the State Legislature, Kevin authored a bill to require state agencies to validate citizenship of applicants for government services and benefits.Kevin is proud to receive the support for his bid for Congress from the president of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, the nation’s premier border security advocacy organization.
“Legal immigrants who contribute to our economy are a great asset for America. But illegal “immigrants” harm not only our economy but our very sovereignty as a nation. Congress must enforce our borders.”
